Leather Bracelet Sizing Suggestions From
Getting the right size for a bracelet can be a bit tricky, and, along with wrist size, depends on other factors such as the overall length of the clasp and the thickness of the leather or beads you are using.

There are some general guidelines for bracelet sizes to start with when determining size. These are guidelines for FINISHED length and you’ll need to take the length of the clasp into account when determining the length of leather or strung/knotted beads needed., if you are using thicker leather, such as Regaliz 6X10mm oval, or larger beads, you’ll need additional length as there will be a significant difference between the inside and outside diameter of the bracelet when it is closed.

The best way to ensure an accurate fit is to finish one end and try the bracelet on for size before finishing the other end. You can then adjust the length of the leather or beads before finishing. An alternative is to cut the leather or string beads to the EXACT length of the wrist; the clasp will typically add about ½ inch. You’ll need to check your clasp, however – some clasps can add more or less than ½”.

Here are some sizing guidelines for FINISHED LENGTH:

Age Finished Length
Adult Women 7-8"
Adult Men 8-9"
Sizing for children listed below:
3 5.25"
4 5.5"
5 5.75"
6-7 6"
8-9 6.25"
10-11 6.5"

Seasons Change Earrings – One Design, Three Ways

The three seasons of beads offered in the colorful handmade Samunnat Sundari bead line are perfect for showing how one beaded design can look completely different depending on the beads used in it. In the two pairs and one trio of earrings shown, the type, size and shape of the beads and findings remain constant throughout, while the colors of the beads and tones of the wood change.

The Spring pair is a fun example of how Sundari coins that coordinate, but don't necessarily match, work together for an eye-stopping pop of color. Samunnat Sundari coin beads come in all sorts of different styles within the same color combination. So, even though the floral pattern of the beads differs, they're lovely together because the same colors of clay have been used in both beads. As it says on our website, we unfortunately can't guarantee exact matches with these beads. With the harmonizing colors, it's safe to be adventurous though!

Click here to see our Spring Earrings or Summer Earrings  or Winter Earrings

Summer's pair of earrings takes that exploration to the extreme, with three earrings: two that match and one that coordinates. The sunny warmth of the Bayong wood beads works great with the subtle yellow touches of the Sundari beads' Summer color palette and the three beads allows for lots of different looks.

In the Winter earrings, the natural white wood rondelles parallel the beige polymer clay used in the petals of the flowers on the Sundari coins, while the sky rubber o-rings bring out the tiny bit of that same shade of blue used in the center of the beads' flowers. Copper spacers and findings add a balanced warmth to the cool tones of the beads.

These earrings are just one example of how one jewelry design can look different with just a few changes in color. The next time you're browsing through the samples shown on our Ideas and Inspiration pages, select a design you like and imagine it with a different color palette. It's a great way to experiment with new colors and beads, maybe even venturing out into a color brand new to you. Let your imagination go wild!

Bulahan Wood: Blessed Beads

bulahan beadsBeads have been a part of many cultures throughout history due to their beauty, sustainability, and versatility, with nearly every major religion using some type of wood beads as prayer beads. It is only natural then that's new line of beads is called Bulahan, which means 'blessed' in the Filipino language. We find the many shades and grains of the beads in the Bulahan line work beautifully with our lines of handmade beads and focal pieces, and know they'll be fabulous additions to your beaded creations.

Dark Wood Beads

To add an earthy, rich tone to your beading projects, consider some of our Bayong round wood beads. The strand below features 4mm beads in a warm shade of brown showing a variety of natural imperfections and spots in the wood grain.

bayong wood beadsPerfect for offsetting your bright components and colored beads, these round Bayong beads are a popular choice and come in sizes ranging from 4mm to 12mm. If you prefer a lighter shade of Bayong wood, our selection of flat beads and more unconventional shapes will change up the color palette very slightly.

tiger ebony wood beads
Taking things to a dark chocolate shade of brown is our line of Tiger Ebony beads. Offered in the same variety of sizes and shapes as our Bayong beads, Tiger Ebony beads present dark, full shades of brown and black and have an especially shiny luster. While Tiger Ebony is a rare wood, we’re pleased to partner with suppliers that harvest the wood ethically by only taking its branches, thus ensuring the continued health of the trees. Take a look at some of our 8mm cube beads below.

Light Wood Beads

white wood beadsOn the other end of the spectrum, our Natural White Wood beads are finished with a beautiful, pure white style. Use them to add a touch of simplicity and elegance to your designs.

Rosewood also presents a beautiful option for a lighter, softer shade of wood beads. Our flat, round 5mm Rosewood beads (shown below) are perfect for a simplistic, geometric design. The second photo shows Rosewood beads in a petal shape which is a great option for a chunky, eye-catching necklace!

Colorful Wood Beads

If you’re looking to infuse your design with some more drastic colors like yellow, grey or red, we’ve got a great selection that will make your jewelry really pop.

jackfruit wood beads
To brighten up your wood bead creation, consider our line of Jackfruit wood beads. Featuring a vibrant golden hue, Jackfruit wood beads are a great option for infusing some color into your design while still using wooden components. Take a look at these flat, square 16mm beads.

grey wood beadsOur Greywood twisted round beads (shown below) offer a dark shade of brownish-grey, with elegantly dramatic wood grain. They’re perfect for offsetting your brighter beads and components.

Lastly, to really spice up your design, add some Redwood beads! Featuring a bright shade of red, or orange in some instances, Redwood beads are the perfect addition to a design that helps usher in spring weather and new life in the grond.
redwood beads

Our selection of wooden beads is vast, and we’re so excited to add these natural beads to our product offering. More so, we look forward to seeing what kind of creations you can come up with when you use them!
